Kia ora!

I'll give up trying to put everything in order here with pictures and all. That way it's gonna take forever to catch up to where I am now, so I'm just gonna starts uploading some recent photos here and deal with older ones later.

Now I've spent a week and a half in New Zealand and I love it. Spent a few days camping with Yoko and Mark in a place called Hahei. It's been many years since I've been camping but it didn't take too much time getting used to it again. I guess the fact that the campsite had toilets and showers made it easier!
Tuesday it was time for me to move on and I decided to go to Waitomo, a place famous for it's glowworm caves. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take photos in the cave but I did take some pictures of the countryside instead.
After a night in Waitomo I hopped on the bus leaving for Rotorua. Was really looking forward to coming here since I read many nice things about it and Yoko also recommended it to me, and I haven't been disappointed. My first night here I went to Te Puia where I got to experience some Maori culture. They did some dance and song performances and then we got to eat hangi, a traditional meal cooked in baskets under ground. Before we left for the night we went up to watch the Pohutu geyser erupt.
Spent yesterday walking around a rainy Waimangu Volcanic Valley, but it was nice seeing the place even in the rain.

Not my town

After a long day walking around town I remember more and more reasons why I don't like Sydney. Spent several hours trying to find a simple yet nonboring tshirt but did I succeed? No! Would have been perfect to find something at Supre since they have a "end of lease sale" but couldn't find anything tasteful in there. All their tshirts have childish texts on them saying things like "psycho bitch" and other stupid things... I don't feel like a psycho bitch, so I don't want to wear a tshirt saying that I am one.
Another reason is that I was never able to find any nice place to eat, and not this time either. Am I just too picky about everything?

From one extreme to another

Tomorrow I'm leaving rain and floods behind and going to the hottest place on earth - New South Wales. Goodbye Townsville, hello Sydney! Looking forward to leaving this place, been here too long already.

225 millimeters of rain

It's still raining. Today will be a day of watching movies, reading books and doing nothing else. But do I have to go shopping for food? I don't want to, it's too far... Maybe I'll just go to that Thai place that I've walked by a few times now, looks really nice. Wouldn't mind eating some yummy thai noodles!

Evacuation

Due to a coming cyclone they are evacuating backpackers off the island and closing down the hostel. So I'm going as well. Don't want to be stuck here next week, unable to catch my flight to Sydney if the ferries don't run. So it's safer for me to stay at a hostel on the mainland. I don't mind really. Just mind paying.
